A father's moving reason for wearing the same t-shirt for 20 years
For almost two decades, this Japanese woman's father always wore the same green polo shirt with a yellow collar. She found it pretty embarrassing that her father continued to wear the same old t-shirt even though it had seen better days. "When that polo shirt gets a hole in it, he carefully sews it back together," the young woman said. "He wears it for any special occasion."

While going through her recently deceased grandfather's possessions, she found a photo album containing her parents' honeymoon photos from 20 years ago. In one of the photos, she immediately recognized the green and yellow polo shirt her young father was wearing at the time. Her beaming mother is sitting next to him — wearing a yellow polo shirt with a green collar. What the picture of the newlyweds doesn't show is that her mother died of cancer two years later.
For the widower, his shirt is a reminder of happier times that help him feel close to his beloved wife. "I always thought he was so 'uncool' for wearing the same old polo shirt," his daughter said. "I never imagined that the polo shirt would contain such a special memory for him."

Since the images were shared on her Twitter page, over 300,000 people have been brought to tears by her story. "I now think that I have to look after my memories too," the young woman said. "I will never throw away anything important of my parents or grandparents."
