Wonderful gesture: Woman pays check for 25 firefighters
Due to extreme heat and dry conditions, wild forest fires have been spreading across the Western United States and Canada. That means fire departments such as the one in Colton, California, have been working around the clock to keep the flames at bay. It's a dangerous and at times seemingly thankless task. But when a group of 25 firefighters took a well-earned refreshment break at a local diner, they were met with a surprise upon asking for the check.
A woman who wanted to remain anonymous beat them to the punch and paid their check which was worth just over $400 with a tip; she also bought each of the 25 fire personnel a dessert. A wonderful gesture, it was her way of saying thank you to the men and women who risk their lives to rescue others on a daily basis.
"We thank you for your generous show of support," Colton Fire Department wrote on its Facebook page. "We are all honored to serve the citizens of our communities." Great job!
