Dog found stuck in a tar barrel undergoes incredible transformation
Volunteers from an animal shelter in India recently found something astonishing inside a metal barrel. When they looked in, they saw a slippery figure covered with tar. When they looked closer, they realized it was a dog.
It was clear that the poor thing had been trapped there for days. The animal’s body heat had obviously softened the tar and caused it to stick to its fur. Now it was trapped, dehydrated, and hyperventilating. The rescuers cut through the metal but still couldn’t get her out.
Seeing no other option, they finally decided to take her and the rest of the barrel to their rescue center where they began massaging her with vegetable oil to remove the tar. Three long hours later, they set the pup back on her own paws. The tar had burned her skin and it was painful just to look at her.
They gave her water to get her rehydrated and provided her with a safe place to recover.
They named her “Asha,” which means “hope” in Hindi. It was a very fitting name — despite the desperate situation she’d been literally stuck in, she had never given up.
Take a look at the video documenting Asha’s progress:
What an extraordinary transformation! Asha is clearly such a lovely, good-natured dog.
