The neighbor called the police because kids were building a water slide on the street. Their reaction? This was the last thing he expected!
To make their street festival a bit more special and beat the summer heat at the same time, a few families in Asheville, North Carolina, got together and made their own "slip 'n' slide" at the side of the road. The homemade contraption was a huge hit and everyone seemed to be enjoying the wet fun... everyone except one very grumpy neighbor who called the police to complain about the noise. But when Officer Carrie Lee and Officer Joe Jones arrived at the scene, they made a very different assessment...
"We looked at it and determined it wasn’t really an issue," explained Officer Lee. "So the first thing I said, 'I’m not here to break up your fun,'" she added. In fact, it was quite the opposite. The officers were so impressed with the neighborhood's DIY waterpark that they couldn't resist joining in the fun. Moments later the two constables were sliding their way down the road along with the others!
"I still can’t handle the amazing-ness of it all. I hope the neighbor who called them saw it all go down!" exclaimed Katlen Joyce Smith, a local mother who filmed the whole thing. A perfect example of "community policing" at its finest!
