Big-hearted teacher saves the life of her pupil's father

Nancy Bleuer is a woman who has found her vocation. The 54-year-old kindergarten teacher does everything for "her" little ones and happily goes about her work in Iowa. She is very sensitive and knows immediately when something is wrong with any of the children in her care. One day, she noticed a big change in four-year-old Camden.

The usually very lively boy was completely different. He took no joy in playing and seemed very depressed. So she took him to one side and asked what was making him so down. What he told her made her heart sink.

Camden's father Darreld was suffering from a severe illness. His kidneys were functioning at only 20% capacity and he had to regularly go on dialysis. As his condition was getting worse and worse, Camden was afraid. He feared losing his father. He explained all this to Nancy with tears in his eyes.

At that moment, the teacher decided to help the family. She signed up to the Organ Donor Register and almost couldn't believe it, when a few days later, the telephone rang — she was a match as a donor! Shortly after, Nancy picked up the phone herself and called Camden's family. Disbelieving, Darreld listened as his son's Kindergarten teacher offered him her kidney. Darreld was overwhelmed by Nancy's bighearted offer: "It's just amazing. There are people waiting every day for a kidney, for an organ in general. I wish there were more people like her. She's giving me a second chance at life."

Ultimately, Darreld accepted what Nancy was offering and soon the generous woman was preparing for the procedure. Before the operation, Camden's family surprised Nancy with flowers at school. Camden is proud of his teacher and everyone is now hoping that the operation goes smoothly. But the gratitude of the entire family towards Nancy is definitely not in doubt.

Nancy really is an amazing person. We could do with more people like her. Let's hope her generosity receives the recognition it deserves!
