Man with severe disability finds the love of his life

When Gregori Prutow was born, his parents were overjoyed. Their second son was a big, handsome baby and a very welcome addition to their happy home in Vladivostok, Russia. Despite waking up some nights with back pain, little Gregori appeared to be perfectly healthy.

But the situation soon changed drastically. When Gregori's parents took him to the doctor, they were shocked by the diagnosis: Gregori suffered from muscular atrophy and the condition was causing the muscles surrounding his spine to waste away. The prognosis was horrifying — the child would soon need constant care and would probably only live for another four or five years.

Gregori's parents, however, weren't about to give up on their son. They were determined to do whatever they could to keep him alive and spent years searching for treatments and cures. Yet despite all their efforts, there seemed to be little hope — Gregori stopped growing, his muscles withered, and soon he could no longer walk.

As the years went on, the original prognosis proved to be wrong and Gregory was still alive. He turned 10, then 15 and, although he weighed only 45 pounds, he was eventually able to celebrate his 20th birthday. But Gregori's life wasn't easy. He spent most of his time at home unable to move his body. The internet was his only connection to the outside world.

Gregori was lonely, but he also preferred to stay at home because when he did venture out of the house, he was met with rude stares and looks of disgust. Home was a safe place where he could at least live something close to a normal life. Gregori was content, but he felt that one very important thing was missing from his life: a woman to share his life with.

One day Gregori decided to express his loneliness and frustration by posting this message on the internet: "It hurts to think about all the things that I can never have... I can't experience the world in all its beauty. I can't swim in a river or in the ocean. I can't run around in the grass without pain. I can't help my friends carry things.

I can't take care of the people I love. I can't make them happy... and I'll never know what it's like to be loved, how it feels when someone wants you, when someone is jealous or proud to introduce you. I'll never know what it's like to hug someone I love, to protect her, to dance with her, to give her flowers or make her a gift.

I'll never be able to raise a son or a daughter. I'll never stand in the maternity ward with a bouquet of roses and shout 'I love you!' I'll never have a beautiful wedding and carry my bride across the threshold."

The young man had no idea that his life would change dramatically two months later. It began with some harmless online chatting with a young woman from Kazakhstan named Anna. The two had a lot in common: both are hopeless romantics who love art and literature. Gregori soon noticed that he had strong feelings for Anna, and it appeared that Anna felt the same thing. But Gregori didn't dare to get his hopes up by thinking that the relationship could become something serious.

Gregori spent weeks debating with himself whether or not to reveal his true feelings to Anna, which would also mean having to reveal the truth about his health. Finally, the young man found the courage to declare his love for Anna and send her a photo of himself. Then came Anna's surprising reply: she wanted to visit him! A short time later she made the 1860-mile journey to Vladivostok.

Then came an even more surprising development: Gregori and Anna fell in love and decided to get married. They kept the wedding ceremony small and modest, but when the media got hold of the story, it became a national sensation. Most people couldn't understand why a beautiful young woman would want to marry Gregori — he wasn't even rich! Many thought that Anna was simply crazy.

But Anna and Gregori were in love and didn't feel the need to justify themselves to the rest of the world. Their courage impressed thousands who respected the young couple for staying true to their feelings and not letting societal pressure stand in the way of their love for each other.

Anna and Gregori have inspired people throughout the world with their wonderful photos and funny videos that include a huge dose of self-irony. It's obvious that they've found true love and aren't afraid to show it with confidence, and one can only hope that they have a long and happy life together!
