Depressed grandmother gets radical makeover thanks to granddaughter
We've all been there: when we're depressed, it's very difficult to take care of ourselves, let alone worry about our appearance. But Mary Johnson's story proves how important it is to always love and care for ourselves, both on the inside and the outside. Mary was having a terrible year and was mourning many deaths in her family, including her mother's.
She would have succumbed to the grief had it not been for her granddaughter, who was always there by her side to support her. One day she decided to do something special for her grandmother and took her to The Makeover Guy, a beauty salon that specializes in makeovers. Hair stylist Christopher Hopkins got straight to work to make Mary feel special again.
"She thinks she isn't pretty, but she is. I just want her to see that," explained Mary's granddaughter. But even she was blown away when she saw Mary again for the first time after her transformation. Check out her reaction in the video below:
Although a little hesitant at first, Mary eventually embraced the experience. And it's a good thing she did! When they left the salon together, her granddaughter described her as being full of life. Mary was so happy she wrote The Makeover Guy a thank you email, saying: "This morning when I looked in the mirror I liked what I saw. I had not felt this way in a long time. And my husband LOVES it! Last night he called me beautiful. You can bet I will keep up the hair and makeup!"
We are so glad Mary feels beautiful and special again and that this makeover has helped her to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We hope this is just the start of a new life for her!
