Taking the extra step: Father of autistic boy writes inspiring post
Bob Cornelius was visiting his 11-year-old son Christopher’s school one night and spotted one of his son’s assignments hanging on the board. The students had been asked to compile a list about themselves, highlighting favorite TV shows, activities, food, and so on. When asked to list his friends, Christopher, who is autistic, had simply written: "No one." Bob knew that his son struggled in social situations, but these five letters broke his heart deeply. He was inspired to share this post on Facebook:
Bob's powerful post has been shared over 50,000 times, attracting media attention and inspiring people near and far to send gifts and letters of support.
This father’s message is an important one: with compassion and empathy, we have the ability to touch the lives of many.
