Barbaric! Animal rights group brings horse abuser to justice
Twenty-two-year-old Charlotte McPherson describes herself as a animal lover and passionate horseback rider. But when this young woman from the outskirts of Birmingham, England, showed up at an equestrian event with her horse Thor, the other participants were shocked. No one noticed anything at first since Charlotte had covered the horse with a blanket to hide the worst evidence.
But eventually Thor's whole body was seen by the crowd. The animal protection agency RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) learned about Charlotte and Thor from a selfie the girl had posted. Thor was clearly visible in the background and it was easy to see that something wasn't quite right. They decided to investigate further.
They couldn't believe what they found! Not only was Thor emaciated to nothing but skin and bones, but he also had a sizable abscess on his back where the saddle rested. Every ride must have been torture for him. They instantly reported Charlotte for animal abuse.
Charlotte was found guilty on two charges. She has been forbidden from keeping horses for the next ten years, must pay $500 in fines, and has to complete 160 hours of community service.
Thor was brought to a home for abused animals. He's been given necessary medication and is slowly being nursed back to health. A stunning animal exists below that tired-looking body.
Thor is enjoying his new life free from pain. He's now getting plenty of food, can move freely, and is being treated as a horse should be. His days of hunger and sorrow are thankfully over.
It's hard to believe that this girl could have neglected her animal so much. Thankfully the authorities found out in time and were able to rescue Thor. And hopefully Charlotte has learned something from the whole ordeal. It's great to know that there are people out there who are looking out for the creatures who can't stand up for themselves.
